What cards are available on completion?

Successful candidates will obtain an NPORS card on completion, there are a number of different options available dependent on a number of factors including site requirements, prior experience/qualifications of those attending and whether their employer is CITB levy registered and wishes to claim grant on completion.

NPORS Traditional card (5 years)

Internationally the standard NPORS card, this lasts for between 3 and 5 years and is typically valid until the end of the month in which the NPORS assessment is completed. This version isn’t best suited to construction and is less accepted than the CSCS embossed alternative.

CSCS Embossed NPORS card

In more recent years the introduction of the NPORS CSCS card, which is embossed with the CSCS logo much like CPCS, has become widely accepted and requested across the UK by construction and construction allied industries. In order to obtain this version of the card, trainees need to have passed the HS&E test within 2 years at point of an NPORS ticket being applied for. This version of the card is more widely recognised across construction and construction allied industries.

Types of NPORS CSCS Embossed Card:

• NPORS CSCS Red Trained Operator card (2 years) - this card is issued on completion of training and/or the NPORS test, and is available for anyone who has a valid HS&E Health Safety & Environment test.
• NPORS CSCS Blue Competent Operator card (5 years) - this card can be issued to any operator that has undertaken NPORS training/testing and also holds a relevant NVQ.

Pre-Course Information:

Any candidates should have a good understanding of English, the NPORS scheme does permit the use of interpreters however and Safeteam can always organise for an independent interpreter to be made available if needed.

Can I claim CITB grant on NPORS ?

In short yes. CITB levy registered businesses can claim CITB grant for NPORS courses as long as the durations hit certain parameters for CPCS experienced worker or CPCS novice training. The CITB grant amount is subject to the duration of training and will consist of 1 grant payment which encompasses both training and the CPCS technical test.
